Good coffee will change your life
Most coffee you will come across is bad coffee.
Good coffee, while harder to find, is obvious right away. It’s cleaner, more balanced, and actually tastes like something (not just "burnt coffee").
Ironically, most coffee shops fall into the first category. Even well known places with expensive machines will serve bad coffee. Sometimes they’re just not good at it.
In most cities, there are only a handful of places that consistently get this right. In smaller towns, maybe one if you’re lucky.
Once you find it, it’s hard to go back. You’ll notice bad coffee everywhere and realize what you have been missing.
While cafes might have the most expensive gear, the best coffee you will ever had is made on a high end consumer setup with a quality grinder and fresh beans.
Maybe you have a coworker who put a La Marzocco machine and a Niche Zero grinder in the office. Or a friend with a Lelit Mara X V2 machine and a decent grinder who makes coffee on weekends for friends. That’s typically where you’ll run into it.
Find one good shop. Or learn to make it yourself. Either way, it’s worth it.
